Welcome to Lafayette Parish School System Lafayette High School Band placed 12th in National Championship The Lafayette Parish School Board would like to congratulate the Mighty Lion Band and staff for a wonderful performance at the Band of America Grand Championship in Indianapolis. During this competition the 300-piece band competed against 90 other bands from across the nation. After placing third at the Atlanta SuperRegional last month they earned a bid to the Grand National Championship. The band was judged on general effect, visual performance and musical performance. Congratulations to the Mighty Lion Band on a job well done! Superintendent's Golf Tournament The 11th annual Superintendent’s Golf Tournament is set for Monday, February 16, 2009 at Acadian Hills Golf Course. Proceeds from this event are used to fund a $2,000 scholarship for at least one senior at each Lafayette Parish public high school. Additional funds are distributed in amounts ranging from $500 - $1,000 to other seniors of the class of 2009 who need scholarship assistance. The money awarded to students may be used at any accredited Louisiana college, university or vocational school to defray the expense of tuition, books, room and board, or transportation. To date more than $186,000 has been distributed to students to assist them in their post high school academic endeavors.
