Board Learns of Donation to FRAN the Van The Board Kekst and Company, Inc., for donating $15,000 to the FRAN Family Literacy Program. Kekst Company employees heard about the FRAN program and called to get information about the kinds of services FRAN provides to the parents and children of Lafayette Parish. After a few phone conversations and emails sent back and forth, a committee decided to choose the FRAN program to be the recipient of a $15,000 donation to be used to buy books and promote literacy in Lafayette. The company designed a Christmas card that was sent to clients and friends worldwide announcing the donation. The message inside the card reads: “At the end of each year, we express our thanks and appreciation to our clients and friends by supporting local organizations dedicated to improving education and literacy. In 2005, we extend our reach to meet a special need. We have made a contribution in your honor to Families Reading Around Neighborhoods (FRAN the Van), a Louisiana-based family literacy program that promotes reading and education for both parents and children. With homes, schools and public libraries in the Gulf Coast region destroyed by the hurricanes this year, and the need for educational materials greater than ever, our gift will be dedicated to purchasing and delivering new books to families in need. As we reflect on our blessings, we wish you happiness, health and peace in the new year.” Kekst and Company, Inc., is a corporate and financial communications firm serving publicly traded private enterprises around the world (www.kekst.com).
