Board Notes Lafayette Parish School Board Regular Meeting
February 1, 2006 Board Recognizes AHS Football Coach
The Lafayette Parish School Board recognized Coach Robert "Ted" Davidson of Acadiana High School. Coach Davidson was selected Class 5A State Football Coach of the Year for 2005 by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Coach Davidson led the Rams to a 12-2 mark in season's play and class 5A state runner-up position. Coach Davidson is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University. Board Approves Two Resolutions
The Board approved a resolution recognizing the week of Feb. 12-18 as Career and Technical Education Week. The Board also approved a resolution proclaiming the month of February National Women in Sports Month.
In other action, the Board:
- approved the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of 1-18-06;
- approved the minutes of the Special Board Meeting of 1-23-06 (operational mileage and W-2's for bus drivers);
- approved the minutes of the Special Board Meeting of 2-1-06 (worker compensation case);
- approved the minutes of the Special Board Meeting of 2-1-06 (appeal hearing);
- approved the minutes of the Special Committee Meeting on Expulsion Hearings;
- received the Sales Tax Collection Report for December, 2005;
- received a Curriculum Update on Career and Technical Education programs and the Schools of Choice Fall Frenzy;
- received information from Board Member Rickey Hardy on renaming Northside High School to Dr. Martin Luther King High School;
- received information from Hardy on a transportation management company;
- received information on the following items, with action to be taken at a subsequent meeting:
- 2002 1/2-cent Sales Tax Fund Budget Revision #1, Fiscal Year 2005-2006;
- revisions to Policy File: IDFA-R (also MDBA-R) - Administrative Regulations for High School Student Participation in Athletic Activities Student Athlete Performance Proposals;
- approved personnel changes;
- approved the Sales Tax Fund Budget Revision #1, Fiscal Year 2005-2006;
- approved the warehouse bid;
- approved revisions to Policy File: IID - Test Security Policy.
