Safety Assessments and Drug Prevention

The purpose is of this program is to help students and community leaders develop, implement, and evaluate programs and policies to reduce student problems related to alcohol/drug use and violence.

The program favors a comprehensive approach to prevention. The program uses a mix of safety strategies to address the institutional, community, and public policy factors that contribute to these problems.  The program supports the development of a prevention infrastructure, primarily by facilitating the use of video cameras on campus at low-level sercurity areas and high level intreset points in conjuction with personel intervention and Lafayette Police Department.

The program also provides training, technical assistance, and publications to support these efforts. It also promotes innovative program development to improve student education, campus-based media campaigns.
