Parental Involvement Statement

We believe that parental involvement is a vital step in supporting student success and academic achievement.

The home–school partnership should encourage parents to actively participate in their children’s education as well as involve parents in a shared decision making process. We believe this combined effort of home and school will assist students in extending learning beyond the classroom and in maximizing classroom achievement.

Behavior Policy

Download 2009-2010 Student/Parent Handbook (PDF) .  This document contains the latest information on what is expected from students.

The Lafayette Parish School System has adopted this student handbook in order to protect each student's right to an education and to provide each with due process. To balance these rights with the responsibilities they imply, regulations are necessary. The regulations in this handbook are consistent with federal and state laws as well as with parish policy. Revisions may be given as an addendum to the policies in this handbook during the school year. References to the Student Rights and Responsibilities & Code of Student Behavior also refer, by extension, to additional regulations at the school level.

The powers delegated to a School Board by the State Legislature are delegated to the Board as a body. No authority is granted to Board Members acting as individuals.
