It's Open Enrollment Time!! October 1 through December 5, 2008, is our annual open enrollment period for employees to make changes in their benefit selections. The changes you make during this time are effective January 1, 2009, and will reflect on your December, 2008, payroll check. Check out the meeting schedule to locate a meeting near you. What's New In 2009 VISION COVERAGE! We are pleased to offer for the first time a Vision Plan to our employees. We believe this is an affordable plan for all employees that covers routine eye exams, eyeglasses, and contact lenses. Be sure to read the information which refers to AlwaysCare, the company which has been selected to provide our benefit. 90-DAY EXTENDED SICK LEAVE NOW AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT EMPLOYEES In the last legislative session, the Louisiana legislators granted the 90-day extended medical leave benefit which was previously available to teachers and bus drivers to all employees. DINA Dental Takes Over Full Indemnity Coverage We now offer both a Pre-Paid Dental Plan (HMO) with DINA Dental and a full indemnity plan. Employees who currently have the Delta Dental plan will be rolled over automatically to the new DINA plan. These former Delta members will receive a new ID card and will see a reduction in premium. If you are on the Delta plan and do not wish to continue coverage with DINA, you must complete a form to drop your dental coverage during open enrollment. Those who did not have dental coverage in 2008 may enroll in the new DINA plan using the new enrollment form.
Standard Insurance Company Replaces UNUM Disability Standard Insurance Company has been selected to replace UNUM as the insurance company providing our disability insurance. All employees who currently have disability coverage with UNUM will automatically have their coverage changed to Standard. If you have any questions, please attend one of the open enrollment meetings. Employees who carry disability coverage will see a reduction in their premiums. Review the new premium schedule.
Long-Term Care Insurance Now Available With Northwestern Mutual We shall continue our group long-term care policy with UNUM for all employees who have purchased this coverage. In addition, any employee who is interested in exploring an alternative to the group policy now has the option of purchasing an individual long-term care policy with Northwestern Mutual and have the premium payroll-deducted. The Northwestern Mutual policy affords different options in coverage and may be of interest to many employees.
