Writes of Spring Writing Contest
|
The National Writing Project of Acadiana announces the annual Writes of Spring writing contest for young authors. The contest is open to students from grades one through twelve. Teachers are encouraged to submit worthy samples of their students' work, or students may submit their own work directly. Only one entry per student will be judged. Each division of the contest includes three categories: poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.

Why We Are Proud of Paul Breaux Middle School 1. Nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School
2. Parents are involved in our Arts night, Science/Math night, and parent lunches
3. French Immersion Program placed 1st in the nation for “Save Our History”. The students presented their program at the Feast of the Acadian Children in St. Martinville on August 15th
4. Science Olympiad team has placed 1st in state for the past 11 years
5. Band is a consistent sweepstakes winner at competitions
6. Beta Club members fill Christmas stockings and deliver them to needy children
7. Our cheerleaders have been invited to march in the Houston Thanksgiving parade this year
8. Math Counts teams has earned a slot at the state competition every year since 1988
9. Students consistently place at the district and state level competing against high school students
10. Field Trip destinations include Chicago and Paris, France
11. Four teachers are National Board Certified; Two are awaiting their scores after completing the process this past June; Two are starting the process this year
12. Three 7th grade students received national recognition for their ACT scores
13. Girls Basketball - Parish Champs
14. Girls Volleyball - Parish Champs
15. Boys Basketball - Parish Champs
16. Beta Club sent care packages to troops in Iraq all year
17. Students sold bracelets to raise money for hurricane relief fund
18. Students raised $2,500 for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
19. Our Student body signed an oath against violence.
20. 1st in state for the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest
21. 1st place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Quiz Bowl
22. Ten students received national recognition for their poetry which was published
