Congratulations Ronette Roy!
Ronette Roy was named Prairie Elementary's teacher of the year. Ms.
Roy has been teaching for 18 years at Prairie Elementary. She taught
Special Education for 6 years, first grade for 8 years, and 2nd grade
for 4 years. Prairie has been her home for her entire teaching
career, and she says, "There's no place like home."
Ronette Roy chose teaching as a career because she
couldn't think of anything she'd rather do than teach, except maybe
her beloved hobby of tennis.
Her teaching philosophy can be summed up with Ms. Roy's words: "I'm
fortunate God gave me the gift to teach His children. It is my job
to plant knowledge like a seed, give encouragement, and watch it grow
and bloom."

Power of an Hour

Thank you Target!

In the spring, Prairie Library hosts Power of an Hour

Students and parents listen to a story and tips about reading, then they discuss the story and do an art activity that goes with the story.  Target provided a grant to purchase Literacy Bags for this event.  The coordinating fabric bags include a book, a puppet or other object, and an idea sheet.
