Message from Gwen Lewis, Principal

Greetings all! I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to Prairie: returning students, new students, teachers, parents, staff, and business partners. I am pleased to see that everyone seems to have embarked smoothly and beautifully on this exciting, adventurous journey of expanding our minds through learning. I am delighted to serve as principal of this large and diversified unique school. Every student, every issue, every question, is important to me, so always feel free to visit me with any concern, compliment, or comment you may have. My door is open to you.  Our school theme this year is GARDEN OF LEARNING. Prairie always nurtures diversified academic success.  Again, welcome, bienvenue, as we also say here.

A Welcome from Our Assistant Principals - Mr. Jarvis Hebert and Ms. Gwen Tate

Prairie est une école diverse. Notre programme d’immersion française est un des programmes supérieurs de sa sorte au monde. Nos enseignants partagent des talents globaux. L’Ecole Prairie offre aux élèves une opportunité de recevoir les bénéfices des études par l’enquête. Notre programme de lecture accélérée est reconnu comme un des plus réussis dans la paroisse. Nous tachons à développer les éléments essentielles de caractère, de bonne citoyenneté et d’esprit d’école dont les élèves serviront pendant que leur vies dévoilent. Nos enseignants encouragent l’utilisation des dernières technologies pour maximiser la capacité d’apprentissage d’élève. Les élèves à Prairie sont encouragés de participer dans plusieurs activités hors-programme comme un club des arts, un club des échecs et « Coup de main », un club de service qui tous développent la capacité d’élève.

Je suis fier d’être un administrateur d’école à Prairie. J'attends avec intérêt une année magnifique et je vous invite de nous visiter souvent. Je sais que nous ensemble allons travailler pour développer les talents de votre élève à leur plus pleine capacité. Appelle-moi si je peux vous aider.

I join Mrs. Lewis in welcoming our students, parents, teachers and staff to the 2008-2009 school year. Prairie Elementary is a very special school. We take pride in our journey to excellence and we welcome your support and involvement in your child’s education. Our goal is to foster a nurturing environment that will enable successful learning.

Prairie is a diverse school. Our French Immersion Program is one of the top programs of its kind in the world. Our teachers share talents that are global in nature. Prairie Elementary offers students an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of learning through inquiry. Our accelerated Reading Program has been recognized as the most successful in the parish. We strive to develop the essential elements of character, good citizenship, and school spirit that students will use as their lives unfold. Our teachers encourage the use of the latest technology to maximize student learning potential. Students at Prairie are encouraged to participate in an art club and in extracurricular activities like a chess club and a "coup de main" club that help develop student potential.

I’m proud to be a school administrator assigned to Prairie Elementary. I look forward to a wonderful school year and I welcome you to visit Prairie often. I know that together we will work to develop your student’s talents to their fullest potential. If I can be of service to you please call.
