Professional School Counselors ABOUT COUNSELORS The professional school counselor has earned a Master's Degree and is state certified in Guidance and Counseling. Each counselor is a key resource person in your school who has special training in child growth and development, occupational an deducational information. SERVICES PROVIDED Individual Counseling Individual counseling is a personal and private meeting between a counselor and student where ideas, feelings, and behaviors can be safely explored. Small Group Counseling Small Group Counseling involves two to eight participants who discuss common issues and concerns. Group members have an opportunity to learn from each other, share ideas and receive feedback. Group Guidance Group Guidance is a classroom lesson developed and presented by the school counselor. Parental Support Parental Support provides parents the opportunity to discuss their child's progress, abilities, growth, and development. Community Agencies Community agencies are utilized by the school counselor to meet specific needs.
