Research indicates that students in every income group who read six or more books during the summer months not only prevent losses in the area of reading achievement, but actually gain. The AHS English Department agrees that the best way to develop a love of reading and to be a better reader is simply to READ.

Read as many books as you can, or choose a few that really challenge you. Either way, follow the advice of Louisiana author Ernest Gaines and "read, read, read."
