Parental Involvement Statement
We believe that parental involvement is a vital step in supporting student success and academic achievement. The home– school partnership should encourage parents to actively participate in their children’s education as well as involve parents in a shared decision– making process. We believe this combined effort of home and school will assist students in extending learning beyond the classroom and in maximizing classroom achievement.

Safe Schools/Healthy Students

The Lafayette Parish School System joins more than 200 Safe Schools/Healthy Students grantees nationwide that are committed to providing safe environments where students can learn, grow and succeed free from the fear of violence from fighting, bullying and weapons.

Building on the collaborative framework established at the federal level between the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, and Justice, the Lafayette Parish School System is implementing comprehensive, integrated, community-wide strategies for students, parents, educators and other stakeholders aimed at promoting school safety and healthy youth development.

For more information about the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative, visit www.sshs.samhsa.gov.
