Who is my School Board Member?

Nine individuals serve on the Lafayette Parish School Board. They represent residents in the nine single-member districts, which are the same geographically as the City-Parish Council districts. You can find your district through the Lafayette Consolidated Government website. Type in your residential address to determine your district. This district number will correspond to both your Parish Council and School Board District.

Board members are elected to serve four-year terms. At the beginning of each calendar year (the first Wednesday in January), board members elect a new president and vice president. The superintendent serves as the board’s secretary.
Voters elect board members to govern operations of the Lafayette Parish School System.

The board is responsible for setting policy that guides the school system’s administration. The superintendent serves as the district’s Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for managing the day-to-day business functions of the system and the administration of all schools in the district. The superintendent recommends policies to the board and develops regulations to carry out the policies adopted by the board.
