CURRICULUM/INSTRUCTION
Goals    To provide instruction that will allow students to acquire a sound education.
1.1 To insure that reading and mathematics are priorities in grades K-3 with emphasis placed on developmental skills in kindergarten.
1.2 To emphasize the basics in teaching reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.
1.3 To provide quality staff development and training for teachers and administrators. 1.4 To increase advanced course offerings at the high school level.
1.5 To enhance vocational programs by including more business and industry involvement.
1.6    To improve test scores at all grade levels.
1.7 To review the pupiUteacher ratio and class sizes across the parish.
1.8 To assess the need for additional magnet programs.
1.9 To review the supervision of classroom instruction and update guidelines as needed.
1.10 To analyze the need for splitting the math and science supervisory position and study the feasibility of adding positions in other content areas.

FACILITIES/PLANNING
Goals    To develop a comprehensive plan for additional facilities and improvements.
1.1. To complete and close out all bond construction projects.
1.2. To develop a plan that will provide for development and funding for additional facilities renovation projects.
1.3. To study population growth patterns and develop a long range plan that will address future growth. Information provided by Census 2000 will increase the accuracy of the study.
1.4. To continue to address life safety code upgrade projects and roof replacement projects, as funding allows.
1.5. To explore the requirements of achieving a Unitary System and/or Public School Choice and/or Open Zone Districts.

FINANCE
Goals    To insure that the School System will remain in good financial condition.
1.1 To review and maintain our improved bond ratings.
1.2 To implement plans to eliminate any deficits.
1.3 To insure that all budget accounts are monitored closely.
1.4 To introduce savings in utilities, energy management, telephones and supplies. 1.5 To review bond expenditures to insure accurate disbursements.
1.6 To study the cost of possible planning periods for elementary teachers for the 2000-01 school year.
1.7 To make appropriate recommendations regarding the adequacy of reserves.
1.8 To develop a plan to generate more revenues in 1999-2000 and subsequent years.
1.9 To study the cost of workbooks and any other parental cost items that are required of the students in our parish and determine potential sauces of revenues.
1.10 To study teachers' salaries to determine resources needed for placement in the top five (5) of the State.

DISCIPLINE PROGRAM
Goals    To develop a parish plan to continue the improvement of discipline.
1.1. To expand C.A.P.S. to house more students who violate school regulations and rules.
1.2. To implement uniforms in grades K-8.
1.3. To continue to support the L.A.P.S. Program for expelled students with appropriate personnel.
