1. Contract bus drivers who acquire a new or used bus not exceeding eight years of age and place it in service on an assigned route shall be eligible for the incentive. The age of a bus shall be determined by the year in which it was manufactured.
2. A limitation of $30,000.00 per year will be available for this plan.
3. Any funds not expended for newly appointed drivers shall be made available for currently employed bus drivers wanting to upgrade their bus on a first come first serve basis. In the event of a tie, those contract bus drivers with the oldest model buses shall be given first preference.
4. A bonafide proof of acquisition must be furnished to the Transportation Supervisor (or Designee) within ten days of the acquisition to qualify for the plan.
5. Incentive payments shall be above the annual operational reimbursement rate in effect and shall be guaranteed for eight (8), five (5), or three (3) years, whichever applies.
An annual allocation of $30,000.00 shall be provided in subsequent years up to an eight (8) year limit with an anticipated cap of $240,000.00. Supplements shall continue until the policy is amended or rescinded.

Incentive plan provisions:
A one time separate payment will be made on the anniversary date of each year and processed during the supplemental payroll cycle once proof of acquisition is provided to the Transportation Supervisor (or Designee). Payments will be subject to all applicable taxes and withholdings.

Funds shall be made available to newly appointed drivers through September of each school session. Any remaining funds shall then be made available to existing drivers for upgrading until that year's allocation is depleted.

Any driver who purchases a bus during the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) shall be entitled to the full incentive in accordance with the above formula.

In the event a contract driver leaves his/her position prior to the end of the school session and takes his bus out of service, he/she will be liable for reimbursing the school board for the unused prorated portion of the incentive funds he/she was allocated for the year.
