VOCAL MUSIC Small Vocal Ensemble Grades: 9-12 976354 Credit: 1 (or repeated for multiple credit) This chorus is comprised of students who are auditioned by the high school choral director. Students must have acquired advanced levels of reading music, ear training for part-singing and mature vocal development. This is a performance group. Rehearsals and performances outside school hours are mandatory. District auditions for all-state and honor choir is expected. Choreographed performances are included in course curriculum. Uniforms and lab fee may be required. Advanced Choir (WC) (Women’s Chorus) Grades: 9-12 976254 Credit: 1 (or repeated for multiple credit) This chorus is offered to freshmen and upperclassmen with soprano to alto range voices. Students must have acquired advanced levels of reading music, ear training for part-singing, and mature vocal development. This is a performance group. General Music Grades: 9-12 976404 Credit: 1 This course is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of music. Basic piano technique, lives of famous composers, the orchestra, and opera are also included. Listening to different types of music, including the different eras of music and contemporary music as it relates to form is also taught. A lab fee may be required. Musical Productions Grades: 9-12 976454 Credit: 1 (or repeated for multiple credit) This course is usually offered to upperclassmen. The curriculum introduces the history of musical theater, technical aspects of theater, a review of Broadway shows, and possibly a staged production of musical or musical scenes.
