The Dance programs develop in students a basic knowledge of and commitment to training in ballet, jazz, and tap dance.  Students develop performance skills while working on basic choreography terminology and technique.  They learn dance history as well as production elements of design, lighting, publicity, costuming, music, sound, sets, and makeup.  Students perform several times a year, and have been invited to dance with area dance troops in Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Alexandria.  Admission is by audition.

Piano classes at the Arts Academy are primarily performance-oriented, and cover music theory, sight-reading, keyboard musicianship, and creative improvisations.  Students work with scales, chords, arpeggios, cadential progressions and inversions.  Small class sizes make it possible for the instructor to work with each student individually each day to accommodate differing skill levels.  Piano students perform several times a year. Admission is by audition.

The Visual Arts program is a multi-media exploration of studio production, with additional studies in Art History, aesthetics, and art criticism.  Areas of study include design, painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and commercial design.  Experimentation with various media and techniques in each area is encouraged, and students gain by exposure to guest artists who show their work and working methods on a regular basis.  Field trips to museums and galleries are part of the curriculum, as is portfolio preparation for scholarships and competitions.  Students have several opportunities during the year to exhibit their work, both in group exhibitions, and competitive shows.  Admission is by audition.
