GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOL BUS SCHEDULING AND ROUTING FOR DAY CARE CENTERS

In order to provide bus transportation for day care centers, the following models shall be observed:

CONVENTIONAL MODEL

Transportation to and from day care centers located within the existing bus route is available for students who live in the school attendance zone.

1. First priority is given to those students who live on existing school bus routes, in accordance with School Board policy.

2. Second priority goes to those students who live in zone but ride other buses in the morning based on their residence address. Students are assigned on space available basis with principal's permission.

FIELD TRIP MODEL

1. Only day care centers in the school's attendance zone and or feeder zone (where feasible) are eligible for transportation.

2. A financial agreement will be worked out between the bus driver and the day care center operator.

3. Day care center operators will provide proper supervision (subject to Principal's approval) and be responsible for the day care students at the school site until the designated bus arrives. This includes day care centers who transport by private vehicle. Day care center operators are responsible to account for all students who board the bus and assure that discipline will be maintained during transit from the school to the day care center.

4. Day care students will be transported after the buses have fulfilled their obligations to 'transport students assigned to regular routes. Modifications may be made at the discretion of the principal.
