The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally $40,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. The income tax preparers at Acadiana High are certified volunteers who have received training to help prepare basic tax returns for the citizens of their community. This is the fourth year our students have participated in this service.
The students can prepare the following forms:

Form 2441 (Child and Dependent Care Credit)
Form 8863 (Education Credit)

The students will not prepare:
Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business)
Complicated and Advanced Schedule D (Captial Gains and Losses)
Schedule E (Rents and Losses)
Form SS-5 (Request for Social Security Number)
Form 2106 (Employee Business Expenses)
Form 2903 (Moving)
Form 8606 (Non-deductible IRA)
Form 8614 (Minor's Investment Income)

Clients need to call 984-2324 after 2:15 p.m. to schedule an appointment. They need to bring the following when they come in for their appointment:
Current year's tax package and/or label
All forms W-2 and 1099's
Information for other income
Information for all deductions/credits
A copy of last year's tax return
Proof of account for direct deposit of return (e.g., voided check)
Social Security or Individual Taxpayer Identification cards for you, your spouse, and/or dependents
