Student Writing

India LeBlanc in Mrs. Richard's 3rd grade class wrote about her upcoming summer vacation:
     Do you want to know how I want to spend my summer vacation?  For the summer I am going to the beach in Lake Charles.  I will suntan.  I will wear my brand new pink and purple bikini.  My cousins and I are going together.  I have good luck because my birthday is in the summer, May 27.  Clearly, I love summer vacation!

      If I were principal for the day, I would have a great school.  I would have 205 girls and 300 boys.  My school would have games and lots of things to do.  My school's name is First John Elementary.  My school would have pool and ten big classrooms.  The classrooms will be sky blue.  My school would have free food to eat.  My school would not have fights or things like that.  It would be so cool to be principal for the day!

Third grade students wrote recently about which animal they would choose to be if they could be any animal in the world.

     Did you know that I would be a monkey if I could be any animal in the world?  I would be a monkey because I love eating delicious bananas.  I also love swinging on trees because it is so much fun.  In addition, I love acting silly by swinging on vines upside down.  Clearly, I think being a monkey would be very fun and silly.

     I bet you did not believe that if I could be any animal in the world, I would be a lion.  I'd rule the jungle.  I would run faster than a jet.  I would be so strong I could pick up rocks.  I could jump over big herds of other animals.  Which animal would you like to be?

     If I could be any animal, I would be a jaguar.  I would run as fast as a train or maybe an airplane with my very strong muscular legs.  I would live in the mountains working out my body.  People would want to catch me for my beautiful brown, gold, and black fur.  Clearly, this is why I want to be a jaguar!

     If I could be any animal, I'd be a mermaid.  I don't know if a mermaid is an animal, but this is what I'd be.  My best friend would be a dolphin named Amy.  My mermaid's name is Marielle Marie.  Clearly, mermaids are beautiful to me.

     If I were an animal, I would be a giraffe because some are taller than 104 feet.  I'm cute, funny, and fun to feed.  I'm full of brown spots and I'm light orange.  I'm a great listener.  I eat leaves off tall trees.  I have a sticky tongue.  I run 5 miles per hour and I burn lots of energy.  I drink lots of water and I'm very heavy.  I live in the zoo.  I communicate easily with other giraffes or other animals.  They have many giraffes to love and care for like humans.  Clearly, that is why I want to be a giraffe.

     If I were an animal, I would be a tiger.  I want to be a tiger because they run fast and they live in the rainforest.  I would even eat meat and have stripes on me.  Also, I could even have big sharp teeth.  If I were a tiger, I would climb mountains and have good eyesight.  I would jump high and hear so well that I could hear a leaf drop.  That's why it's fun to be a tiger!

     If I were an animal, I'd be a poodle.  Poodles are very nice and some are smart, adorable, and cuddly.  I'd be very fun to play with because I like squeaky toys, tennis balls, and puppy biscuits.  I would be so cute that my name would be cutie pie.  I would have my nails painted pink and matching pink bows in my fluffy white fur.  I would be the most precious poodle on the planet!
