Summer Reading

LJA SUMMER READING LISTS:

  • At LJA, we do not have a required summer reading list.
  • Instead, we would like the students to personalize their OWN list of books from the suggestions below.
  • We recommend that you try to read at least one novel per week.
  • Check out the following website to read more about this program: www.scholastic.com/summer.  If you would like to have your student participate, please email Mrs. Bares, the librarian, at tcbares@lpssonline.com in order to receive login information.  Be sure to type "Summer Reading" in the subject line of your message, and include your child's name and grade that they will be in for the 2011-2012 school year.  You may receive a message saying the email did not go through from LPSS.  Please follow the instructions in the email in order for LPSS to verfiy your email account.  An email with the student's username and password will be sent to your account.

Print the reading log below to keep track of your reading minutes. This should also be done online once you have registered with Mrs. Bares.

LJA's Summer Reading Goal:  The goal of summer reading in the Lafayette Parish School System is to promote and inspire the enjoyment of reading.
