Adult Education Special Programs

     English as a Second Language ( ESL ) program provides sources to adults who have limited English proficiency.   Child care is provided for pre-school aged children and extended day care is provided for older children.

›     Testing and Tutoring for:

•     Workplace Literacy Programs

•     Government Employees

•     School Board Employees

     Volunteer Instructors Teaching Adults ( VITA ) aids adults who want to learn to read and write through individual tutoring.  If you or someone you know is reading below an 8th grade level, click the link above for more information.

›     Families Reading Around Neighborhoods ( FRAN the Van ) utilizes two mobile units to provide GED and literacy services to Lafayette Parish residents and their children.

›    Lafayette Parish Correctional Center & Halfway House ( not opened to the general public ) offers literacy classes to inmates who are interested in obtaining their GED.

›     Strategies to Empower People ( STEP ) program offered to AFDC recipients only.
