JW Faulk Elementary and NP Moss Middle are pursuing authorization as International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Lafayette Parish School System believes is important for our area’s students.

  • What is International Baccalaureate?

--IB is a rigorous, project-based, fully assessed way of interactive, trans-disciplinary, and project-based learning. But before we talk about what IB is, let’s talk about what IB isn’t.

--TO begin with, IB is NOT a gifted program. IB is NOT a private school initiative. And IB is NOT a financially based program – IB is for everyone.

--At the heart of this program is a multi-faceted, full-circle approach to learning, with problem solving at the core of every assessment - not memorization.

--Its specific curriculum is used to encourage students to be problem solvers while encouraging responsibility to their community’s needs, and the needs of the world around them. While the curriculum is rigorous, IB offers students the chance to learn every angle of a subject, experiencing transdisciplinary learning, and become true problem solvers.
