FRAN the Van
Families Reading Around Neighborhoods

FRAN the Van• Utilizes school bus transportation to provide GED and literacy services to Lafayette Parish residents and their children.
• Provides parents with training to enable them to play an instrumental role in their child's education.
• Works collaboratively with other school board programs, local agencies and the University Medical Center.    

Program Goal
The goal of Families Reading Around Neighborhoods is to assist families in improving and integrating adult education, early childhood education, parenting, health information, and everyday living skills into a unified family literacy program.

Who Can Participate?
Fran welcomes all families who have children between the ages of birth and 7 years of age. Pregnant women are also encouraged to attend.

Mission Statement
The staff of Families Reading Around Neighborhoods strives to promote family literacy through the cooperative effort of teachers, parents, children and the community.

FRAN Adult Education offers:

     Pre-GED and GED Program

     ESL ( English As A Second Language )

     Basic Computer Skills

     Literacy Skills ( Reading, Writing )

     Personal and Career Goals
