Carencro Middle School 4-H Club
On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, several members of the CMS 4-H club and Mr. Veazey's Industrial Technology classes volunteered their time to help create a school garden. The CMS 4-H club was awarded 1 of 10 Service Learning Grants this year from the Lieutenant Governor's Office. This vegetable garden will accessible and utilized by all students on the campus. The students, with the help of Mr. Veazey, Mr. Boudreaux, Mrs. Sonnier and a few parents, assembled a raised bed that will be handicap accessible. The students measured, cut and assembled the bed and ramps. They then filled the bed with premium compost using shovels and wheelbarrels. The students had a fun-filled day and learned many new skills in the process. They will be building 4 more garden beds in the upcoming months.
