Writes of Spring Writing Contest
The National Writing Project of Acadiana announces the annual Writes of Spring writing contest for young authors. The contest is open to students from grades one through twelve. Teachers are encouraged to submit worthy samples of their students' work, or students may submit their own work directly. Only one entry per student will be judged. Each division of the contest includes three categories: poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.

CHS has been cited as a school with Recognized Academic Growth, according to the Dept. of Education. CHS's 2004-05 School Performance Score of 87.3 showed an increase of 5.60 points over 2003-04, exceeding the state mandated goal!! Congratulations to CHS administration, faculty, and staff and especially the CHS student body for a job well done. The CHS score has exceeded it goal every year and will continue to do so in the future.

Carencro High School is also the home of the Division 1 Boys' State Champion Soccer team.

CHS is the home of the Academy of Information Technology (AOIT), a school within a school open to all first-year freshmen in Lafayette Parish.  The deadline for application is February of every year and there is a cap on enrollment of 75 freshmen.  It has a four year curriculum that covers the topics of computer programming, databases, web design, computer animation, photo and video editing, video game design, computer repair and maintenance, and networking.  The AOIT web site is www.carencroaoit.org.
