David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy guest:
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year. Our school vision creates an environment where students can learn in this highly technological society through self-discovery. We believe that if students understand the relevance of content being covered, they are more likely to become engaged in the learning. This is the first step in becoming self-reliant learners.
The learning pathways at our school include various fields in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our goal is to prepare students with college and career readiness skills to become productive citizens in our competitive world.
Our school theme this year is …David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy is EPIC…Engaging Productive, Intelligent, Citizens through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. EPIC status takes teamwork from all stakeholders in our school system including parents and community members, so we encourage participation from everyone to achieve our goals.
As our school grows into its third year, we will have our first graduating class; The class of 2014. This is one of the many exciting moments we look forward to during the 2013-2014 school year. We will also begin our construction process in the spring with a 30,000 square foot addition of new classrooms, science labs, and an engineering lab.
We do, however, realize that school is more than a building filled with classrooms. It is an area where we must recognize and develop each child’s capacity and potential to become successful and productive citizens.
