After School Academic and Enrichment Tutoring Program

Northside is proud to offer the After School Tutoring Program to the students. This program offers Northside students the chance to build their knowledge and understanding in the core areas, as well as enhance their general exposure to fine arts that are lacking in the school systems these days. The students that are involved in the After-School Tutoring Program spend one hour each day in a class to further their comprehension of one of the core areas - Social Studies, Science, English, or Math. They are then given a choice of several classes designed to promote understanding and appreciation of the arts. There is a piano class, dancing, and music classes. They can also take a fitness or judo class as their enrichment activity. For those that like a challenge, we offer mural painting and a digital animation class.

Tutoring takes place Monday through Thursday each week, but there is also the Blitz program held in the spring. What is the Blitz? The purpose is to encourage students to get extra help the three  Saturdays prior to LEAP/ILEAP testing. The LEAP program focuses on the four core areas and each student spends their time divided between two core areas of instruction - depending on their grade level. The ILEAP program focuses on all four areas to help raise their test scores.  Snacks and lunch are included in this free tutoring program.
