Bus Arrivals & Departures

Why is the bus late and why was I not called? Some of the situations that could cause delays include traffic, road closures, weather, vehicle breakdowns, or a late prior route. Railroad crossings are another reason school buses may run late. The late bus must come to a complete stop. If there is a train coming, the bus is further delayed. Since we operate over 300 buses and serve over 25,000 students twice per day, it is virtually impossible to contact parents when a bus is late.
How will I be notified of a change to my child's stop time (or stop location)? The routing department determines all changes of bus stops and bus stop times, inputs data and utilizes routing software to send a copy of the new schedule to the affected school(s)and driver(s)
I got home late (in p.m.) and the bus has not dropped of my child. The school is closed so what should I do? A call to the Transportation Customer Service Center at (337) 521-7440 is usually the best option in these circumstances. "Must be met" special needs students are usually returned to the school if they are not met. If the student is not a "must be met" student, the transportation staff can assist you in locating your child.
