Are all students allowed to ride on school buses? All qualified students determined by state laws and local guidelines and live more than one mile from the school they are zoned for are eligible for transportation. Children who live in areas with approved hazardous walking conditions are also transported to school until the hazardous conditions are removed. Students in full-time exceptional education classes who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) stating the need for specialized transportation are also transported.
