Child Welfare & Attendance

The Lafayette Parish School System's Child Welfare and Attendance Office provides a variety of services to students and their families. The primary goal of the department is to design effective interventions in the areas of attendance, discipline, and dropout prevention.  We also provide assistance with the following services:

  • Requirements for Student Registration
  • School boundaries and Zoning Guide K-12
  • Student Educational Advantage Transfers (SEAT)
  • Employee's Student Transfer Option
  • Requests for Out of Zone Exception
  • Employment of Minors and Work Permits
  • School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
  • The Lafayette Parish School System Consequences of Behavior Policy
  • The Student Dress Code
  • Before or After School Detention
  • In School Suspension
  • Alternative to Suspension
  • Attendance Hearings
  • Suspension Appeal Hearings
  • Expulsion Hearings
  • Placement at the Alternative School Site (Lerosen Preparatory)
  • Transfers to Adult Education and Completion of Age Waivers (16-17 year olds)
