2022-2023 Virtual Orientation
Welcome to our 2022-2023 BMS Virtual Orientation. While we regret that we cannot meet you in person due to the construction occurring on our gym floors, we are excited that in just a few days we will welcome students to our campus! The mission of Broussard Middle School is to promote a love of learning through excellence in academics, creativity in the arts, and the development of life skills. Please view each station in this year's orientation to see how our key components come together to carry out our mission. Welcome to BMS new and returning Junior Spartans!
Station 1: Welcome from Mrs. Champagne
Broussard Middle School Principal
Welcome to Broussard Middle School. My name is Allison Champagne, and I am the principal of Broussard Middle. We are excited for the start of a new school year. Our campus has been busy all summer with two large construction projects. First, our parent pick-up drive is almost complete and we are looking forward to an improved arrival and dismissal process. Also, our gym floor is being replaced and we are expecting to host athletic events again in mid to late fall. Our school theme this year is “Peace, Love & Learning” as we work together to educate and enrich all of our students. We invite our parents to join our PTC organization and work with us to accomplish our school goals. Thank you in advance for your support, and we are looking forward to a great school year.

Station 5: School Fees
Station 6: Address Verification
This year, we will verify addresses by submitting a hard copy to your homeroom teacher (deadline September 14, 2022). The process for verifying addresses will be to send a current gas, electric, or water bill with the name and address printed on the bill. You may also use a Verification of Service from the utility company. Please write the student(s)' name and grade level on the bill. You do not have to send individual copies for each student at BMS. Just be sure to write each child's name on the bill with thier grade level and give it to one student.
Students will turn in copies to homeroom teachers.
Station 7: School Supply List
Station 8: Bell Schedule & Student Handbook
Station 9: Parent Portal
If you have not done so already, create a Parent Portal account and use this resource to stay informed about your child's progress.
Station 10: Arrival & Dismissal
Hopefully our brand new car rider drive will be ready on the first day of school. Cars will enter the new drive from Morgan Street. Upon turning in, the drive turns into double lanes. It does not matter which lane cars are in. Please make sure as you're entering that your car rider tag is clearly visible. If tags are flat on the dash or not out, it slows the process down. Students will be picked up under the covered awning. Traffic will be directed out.Cars turning right will continue right out onto Morgan Street and will have to be aware of cars entering the line. Cars turning left onto Morgan will drive out left and will need to be aware of buses and cars leaving from the parking lot. We will adjust procedures if need be. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Car rider tags will be given out on Wednesday, August 10th from 8 AM - 3 PM. Tags not picked up on this day will be sent home with students on the first day of school.
