Virtual Orientation 2021-2022

Welcome to our virtual orientation. We are sorry we can't welcome you on campus before the start of school. We hope this virtual orientation answers all of your questions and makes parents and students feel more comfortable about the start of school. The orientation does not need to be completed in one sitting and can be accessed at any time over the next week. We suggest that your child sits with you as you complete the orientation. Please go through each of the 13 topics and complete the acknowledgement survey when you are done. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing students on the first days of school!

1.  Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to a Magical Year of Learning! Magic might be our theme, but we know teaching and learning take more than waving a magic wand. It takes courage, commitment, and the desire to achieve the goals we set for ourselves and our students. Faculty and staff have a few tricks up their sleeves and are ready to make 2021-2022 the best year yet! Whether you are a new student or it will be your last year at Edgar Martin, I know it will be a magical experience.

4. First Day of School

On the first day of school students will report directly to homeroom. Students who want breakfast will first report to the cafeteria, pick up a bag breakfast, and then report to homeroom. Students who do not want a breakfast will just go straight to homeroom. There will also be teachers and staff around campus to help any students who need assistance. Parent Portal should be accessible soon for parents to see their child's schedule and know their homeroom teacher.

6. Transportation

Check the LPSS Transportation page for more information. Please talk your child about how they are getting to school each day and how they are getting home. You may want to even write this down and put it in a safe place for them to refer to at school.

Click here to complete our transportation survey.

Car riders - For afternoon pickup on the first day, please write your child's first and last name in large print and place it on your visor. We will give your child a printed card with their name for you display after the first day.

Walkers/Bike Riders - These students may enter school grounds no earlier than 8:05 through the Broadmoor crossing at the front school entrance, through the back gate, or at the Maplewood gate. Walkers and bike riders will be dismissed around 4:00 pm.

7. Chromebooks

Each student will have a Chromebook checked out to them. Students are responsible for keeping track of their Chromebook and preventing them from being damaged. All students will take their Chromebook home with them each day. All students must return a signed agreement and pay $15 to be issued a Chromebook. Students must remember to bring it to school each day they attend and make sure the device is charged. We have Chromebooks for every student on campus. There is no need for students to bring devices from home.
