LPSS Homeless Program The Lafayette Parish School System stands ready to take in any students displaced by Tropical Storm Harvey. Students displaced by flooding qualify for homeless status if they are sharing housing with other persons, including those who are doubled-up with family members or are living in shelters, motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to lack of adequate accommodations. These students will be enrolled immediately and provided with school uniforms. The school system will make every effort to provide services for students with special needs regardless of whether student records, such as IEPs, are available.
Parents who wish to enroll their children should call or visit the following location below:

About Us The Lafayette Parish Homeless Children/Youth Education Program is based on the philosophy that education is the key to overcome and prevent the cycle of homelessness in families. Program activities are based on educational principles and have the common purpose of contributing to the positive physical, emotional, social, and academic growth of each child whose life we touch. The main components of our project are awareness, enrollment assistance, provision of educational materials, coordination of school and community services and resources and summer programs. Our program is funded through the Stewart B. McKinney Assistance Grant.
