New Hires Welcome to Lafayette Parish School System! We are excited you have chosen our District for your career. We know that benefits are an important part of your employment at LPSS. Because of this, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to meet your needs. On October 28, 2020, the State of Louisiana enacted legislation for group self-funded health insurance plans. This change affects newly hired employees of the Lafayette Parish School System. LPSS requires new hires to pay their health insurance premium a month in advance, because of this; employees will immediately owe a health insurance premium at the time of enrollment. The amount owed will depend on the individual's new hire date. LPSS Insurance will work with every new hire to split up the premium repayment thereby ensuring the entire sum does not deduct on one payroll cycle. Employees who need to enroll in health insurance should contact LPSS Insurance immediately to discuss Act 32 and how this change will personally affect the employee’s individual payroll. Please contact Trish LeBouef at 337-521-7064 / tslebouef@lpssonline.com.
Voluntary benefit enrollment has not changed. Benefits are still effective on the first of the month following (30) days of employment. Voluntary benefits include any benefit other than health insurance. Educational Benefits Inc. (EBi) will enroll your voluntary benefits for new hire. Please contact EBi at 844.559.3521 for voluntary benefit enrollment. Please remember employees have (30) days, from their date of hire, to elect voluntary benefits. If you are unsure of your date of hire, please contact LPSS Insurance for verification. Employees who miss the deadline for new hire enrollment MUST wait until the annual open enrollment in the fall to enroll in benefits with LPSS (9/15/xx – 11/15/xx effective 1/1/xx). Please make note, benefit enrollment is not contingent on any issue you may be having with Employee Services.
Mandatory return forms: (1) Health enrollment form (if you are electing District health insurance), (2) Health waiver form (if you do NOT need District health insurance), (3) Life Insurance beneficiary form (Employer paid $10k life insurance benefit).
