Early College Academy

The Early College Academy was ranked 239th on Newsweek’s list of the top 500 high schools in the nation.
At the end of their four years of high school, Early College Academy students will have achieved a high school
diploma as well as an associate's degree in general studies.

•   2015 graduates were offered $23,076,385 in scholarships

•   Students earned 4,517 of college credits through Dual Enrollment

•   6,200 students had the opportunity to receive specialized instruction through Schools of Choice
     and the nine academies in Lafayette Parish; areas of specialized instruction included the Arts,
     the Health and Biomedical fields, STEM, Legal Studies, Broadcasting, Journalism, Early College
     Studies, and Foreign Languages

•   30 graduates earned the Louisiana State Seal of Biliteracy, demonstrating academic proficiency
     in two languages

•   The W. D. & Mary Baker Smith Career Center serves as an extension of the six area high schools
     in Lafayette Parish and offers students the opportunity to pursue coursework in four career
     clusters--Art & Humanities, Business, Engineering & Industrial Technologies, and Health & Human

•   David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy named on a list of the 50 most inspiring schools by

•   Outstanding program for gifted students

•   eCampus Academy provides a tuition free, online education for motivated students in grades
     K-12. All courses are instructed by highly qualified, certified teachers in a flexible virtual
     environment. To compliment online instruction, eCampus provides access to a local school
     counselor who will carefully guide your child through their virtual learning experience. To learn

•   Lafayette High School is one of four in the nation to be named a Blue Ribbon National High
    School of Excellence by the National Band Association

•   District-wide participation in the Acadiana Arts Expo, a district-wide showcase of student work

•   Chorus

•   Dance Academy

•   Visual Arts Academy

•   Talent Program for the Arts

•   Two schools received the George Rodrigue Award for the Arts, which provides the funding for
     both schools to become Louisiana A+ schools
