On March 13, 2024, the Lafayette Parish School Board voted to transfer the Middle School Immersion Program site to Scott Middle School at the start of the 2024-2025 school year. You have the option to have your student remain in the program at Scott Middle School or return your student to their base site and exit from the immersion program. We understand that unexpected changes can be challenging and we are committed to providing you with as much information as possible as well as providing a quality educational program.
Transportation will be provided from satellite locations for students attending immersion academies as well as for gifted services.
- Transportation will be provided according to LPSB Board Policy EDD, “The Lafayette Parish School Board shall provide school bus transportation for all students living more than one mile from the school that they are assigned to attend. Students living within one mile of the school may be allowed to ride a school bus in accordance with the following bus stop walk distances: Elementary - .2 of a mile, Middle School - .4 of a mile, High School - .6 of a mile.”

We ask that you please complete the Google form regarding your anticipated immersion academy for the 2024-2025 school year by May 1, 2024. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact the Language Acquisition Department at 337.521.7127 or 337.521.7129. We will continue to work diligently to ensure a smooth transition and maintain a positive learning environment.
We are pleased to inform you that former immersion students have the opportunity to apply for re-entry into the program at the start of the 24-25 school year. Re-entry will be based on availability as capacity allows. Applications for possible Immersion Re-entry will be accepted until Tuesday, April 30, 2024. This opportunity applies to the following students who exited the program at the end of the:
- 22-23 school year–Current 6th grade–Rising 7th Student
- 21-22 school year–Current 7th grade-Rising 8th Student
- 20-21 school year-Current 8th grade-Rising 9th Student
