Dear Broussard Middle School Families:
Television personality Fred Rogers stated, “As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has- or ever will have- something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression." All students’ lived experiences should be valued. It is vital that schools honor students’ interests, culture, and various forms of expression and knowledge. I do not think of your student as an empty vessel waiting to be filled. Instead, I think of each student as contributors who have the
capacity to transform the world we live in. As a result, my commitment is to recognize and value the individuality of each student.

Kids need to feel loved, and it is our duty to care for them, protect them, nurture them, and help them to develop. Our students spend a vast amount of time in a school building. As a mother, I have experienced the relief one feels knowing that their child is being cared for and loved when at school. Most importantly, I commit to loving your child. I am elated to partner with you, Mrs. Champagne, and our school community to cultivate the development of our students. My door is always open, and I ask that you do not hesitate to contact me.

In love,
Jade Calais
