SILENT AUCTION:The date of Fall Fest is quickly approaching. The event will be held on Thursday, October 26. We are still in need of donations for our silent auction. In October letters were sent home with grade level themes that will be used to create baskets to be auctioned off. Please send any item you wish to donate to school next week. We appreciate all of your support.

ATTENTION L. LEO FAMILIES OUR ANNUAL FALL FEST IS COMING SOON:
Fall Fest will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 5:30-7:30. Wristbands are $15 and let your child play as many games as they choose. Wristbands are on sale until the end of day Wednesday, Oct. 25. Wristbands will be available for purchase at the gate on Thursday for $20.
Hot dogs and chips will be served in the cafeteria for no additional charge. Jambalaya bowls are on sale for $5 a bowl. Tickets purchased in advance are guaranteed.
Please stop by the library between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm on Oct. 26 to bid on any of the items available at the Silent Auction. You can bid on themed baskets as well as experiences.

Important Parent Message
Please bring students to school through their normal mode of transportation beginning tomorrow, August 15th.
Car riders should leave home early enough to allow for traffic issues, the train or other unexpected delays.
All car riders are to utilize the circle at Scott Middle as long as the gates are open.
Students eating breakfast on campus must be in the cafeteria before 7:45 a.m.
We will begin marking tardies effective Tuesday, August 15th. Students must be in their seats by 7:55 A.M.
We ask that car riders be patient with other motorists.
We ask that parents remain in their vehicles and do not get out of vehicles to greet students or say goodbye to students. There are white spots on the right side of the circle for parents to pull up and buckle students into safety belts or seats.

Hello Parents!
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. Here is important information for the start of the school year.
Tomorrow, August 10th is the first full day of school for our A day students and our Kindergarten boys.
Friday, August 11th is the first full day of school for B day students and Kindergarten girls.
Car rider drop-off is from 7:25 AM - 7:50 AM.
Please read the car rider procedures located on the back of car rider tags.
Students should be in their classrooms by 7:55 AM.
Kindergarten students should report to the Library on the morning of their "Readiness Day".
Clear bag policy will be enforced.
Car rider dismissal is from 3:10 PM - 3:30 PM
Please log into the Parent Portal system so that you can provide certain permissions for your child in regards to technology, acceptable use policy and student handbook. Handbooks will be sent home on your child's first day of school.
We are encouraging students to bring water bottles to school every day. Please label your child's water bottle with their name.
The district has a "Heat Advisory" policy in place. When heat indexes rise above 102 degrees, students are to remain indoors between 10 AM and 4 PM. We will be following those guidelines for both recess and PE.
If your child will be eating breakfast at L. Leo Judice, they should be in the cafeteria no later than 7:45 AM. If your child is a car rider, please arrive early to allow for transition time.
The online spiritwear store is currently open. Orders will be accepted now through midnight, Monday, August 14th. Orders placed will be delivered to L. Leo Judice before Labor Day.

LLJ Families, In conjunction with Late Night at the Book Fair, we will be offering a Literacy Night on Tuesday, December 6th (5:00-7:00p.m.). Families are invited to participate in academic activities, learn new reading and math strategies, and enjoy shopping at the book fair. A Virtual Literacy Presentation will be sent home via text message for those families who are unable to attend.

Good afternoon L. Leo families. It is time to begin preparations for our annual Winter Wonderland. This year’s wonderland will take place during car rider drop off on December 16th. Our Winter Wonderland is a special time for students and parents alike. In order for this to be a success, we need your help!
We need as many Christmas themed inflatable characters, extension cords, or surge protectors as possible. Please be sure to clearly label all items with your name (label the character and the box, cord, etc). Items can be delivered to the front office beginning Monday, Nov. 28th. All items must be picked up from school between noon and 3:30 on Friday, Dec. 16th. Any items remaining after 3:30 will not be able to be picked up until January 2nd, 2023.
Please keep our Winter Wonderland event a secret. We love surprising students as they are dropped off on this special morning.

If you plan on volunteering for the upcoming Reading Rodeo or any event on campus, you must be cleared as a Level 1 volunteer through LPSS.
This would include:
1. ALL parents who are “NEW to LLJ” and want to volunteer on campus
2. Parents who have not submitted an application within the past 3 years & want to volunteer on campus
IMPORTANT: If you submitted your volunteer application last year (along with a copy of your driver’s license or photo ID), you DO NOT need to complete another one. Approved applications are good for 3 YEARS.
>LPSS Volunteer applications will be available at Open House on Thur., Sept. 1.
>You need to submit the completed application to the front office at LLJ along with a copy of a photo ID or driver’s license. Do not complete one if you previously submitted one in the past 3 years.
>LLJ will send completed applications to the Human Resources Dept. at LPSS.
>IMPORTANT: Applications cannot be accepted if you do not submit a copy of your driver’s license OR a photo ID.

Just a few reminders for parents of car riders:
Drop off by 7:55 A.M.
Pick up by 3:25 P.M.
Everyone must go through the Scott Middle Circle before entering L. Leo.'s circle during morning and afternoon car line.
Once in loading/unloading area, please put your car in park.
Drop-off - have your child(ren) ready - unbuckled, dressed, and ready to exit.
For safety reasons, children should exit and enter on the driver's side of the vehicle.
Make sure your child's/children's car tag is visible on your dashboard IN THE AFTERNOON. If more tags are needed, please let the teacher know.
Once in the circle at L. Leo, please pull up as close to the car in front of you as possible so we can maximize the use of our space
School zone laws apply: No texting while driving, no smoking on school property, no firearms on school property, and this is a drug free zone!

Love Our Schools newest fundraising campaign to benefit public education across Lafayette Parish: the Love Our Schools Home Giveaway.
Love Our Schools is selling $25 tickets for the chance to win a brand-new home valued at $330,000 to be built and donated by Manuel Builders in Couret Farms, a traditional neighborhood development in Upper Lafayette, just south of Carencro. The drawing will be held on September 21, 2022 with the deadline to purchase tickets being September 18, 2022. There will also be prizes for early-bird ticket purchases including a $5,000 cash prize provided by First National Bank of Louisiana and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers for one year.
