What is the Extended Learning Program?
In 2005, the Lafayette Parish School System offered Charles Burke Elementary an opportunity to provide students and parents with a before school and/ or after school program.
The goals of the program are:
- To provide homework support to student participants.
- To provide academic enrichment opportunities for children in order to meet State and local standards in core academic subjects
- To offer student a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs.
This program is self-sustaining as there are no local/state/federal funds to cover any of the costs associate with before and/or after school programs. Therefore, a small monthly tuition fee is charged. Parents can register their child to attend the program two ways at the school site from 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. or online.
A registration form must be completed for each child attending the Extended Care program. (i.e. If two siblings will be attending extended care two forms need to be completed, one for each child.)
Parents will sign the Extended Care Contract and receive the guidelines for the 25-26 school year.
