Policies & Procedures
TRUMAN CAR RIDER DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROTOCOL
This protocol is in place to protect students, parents and staff.
Car Rider Procedures:
- Gates open at 6:45 AM for Before Care with the students entering at 6:45 AM. You MUST register with Truman Care to be accepted at this time. ALL other students will be allowed to enter at 7:50 AM. The gate will close PROMPTLY at 8:20 AM.
- Breakfast will end at 8:15 AM. Students MUST arrive on campus by 8:15 AM to recieve breakfast.
- If a student is not registered with Truman Care he/she will not be allowed to be accepted into BEFORE CARE.
- Dismissal gates are open at 2:15 PM. The students are dismissed at 3:20 PM.
- Dismissal Gates close PROMPTLY at 3:45 PM. The remaining students will be brought to the office for pick up.
- If possible, have student sit on passenger side of the vehicle for easy exit/entry.
- YOU MUST HAVE A CAR RIDER TAG VISIBLE , NOT LAYING ON THE DASH BOARD (Temporary tags are to be held up in order for the duty teacher to see the sign).
- NO CAR RIDER TAG, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR CHILD IN THE CAR RIDER LINE. YOU MUST REPORT TO THE OFFICE WITH AN ID. Once cleared, you will be provided a SLIP to receive your child.
- Pull into an available parking spot to secure your child. The car rider lane is a NO PARKING ZONE.
PLEASE DO NOT:
- Get out of the car rider line to receive your child. Once the line starts moving it goes quickly.
- Get out of your car and walk to the entry door to ask for your child or for any other reason. You will be asked to return to your car. If you refuse to return to your car, you will be addressed by law enforcement. YOU MUST REMAIN IN YOUR CAR AT ALL TIMES.
- Get out of your car in the car rider lane to buckle your child. You will be asked to pull aside in an effort to keep the flow of traffic moving.
Truman Care Procedures
Before School Care :
- Students may be dropped off at 6:45 AM.
- Enter the parking lot using the middle entrance.
- Park and walk your child to the Multi-Purpose entrance.
- You must turn right when exiting the driveway.
- Students must be dropped off before 7:40 AM. Students arriving after 7:40 MUST join the car rider drop-off line.
After School Care:
- Park and walk to the Multi-Purpose entrance to sign your child out.
- Students must be picked up by 6:00 PM.
- You must turn right when exiting the driveway.
Car Rider Entry (Parent / Guardian)
- All parents / guardians / designee MUST go through the car rider line to drop their student or students off.
- Do not park in the parking lot to walk your student to staff or the entrance of the school
- Enter the car rider area from University or East Willow heading West.
- Entering from West Willow - Turn left into the car rider driveway.
- Veer right into the turning lane.
- Proceed forward following the flow of traffic into the driveway.
- Follow the directions of the duty staff into one of the three lanes.
- The lanes merge into one for student drop off.
- Pull up as safe and close as possible to the vehicle in front of you.
- While waiting, unfasten your student’s car seat / booster for a quick exit.
- Follow the directions of the duty staff for your turn to enter into the drop off area.
- Once you have been guided to the drop off area, pull up to the next available staff member to drop off your student. Please shift your car to (P) park for staff to unload your student safely.
- Remain calm, no threatening, no swearing, no cursing or being disrespectful to staff.
- Once your student has been received, proceed to the next gate to depart from the campus.
- When exiting the driveway, follow the directions of the traffic sign / street divider
- You must turn right when exiting the driveway.
- Once the gate is closed at 8:20 a.m., you are to park in a parking slot and wait in your vehicle until the lanes are cleared. You are to then walk your student to the front office for check in. Please do not block the driveway.
Car Rider Departure (Parents/Guardian)
- Enter the car rider area from University or East Willow heading West.
- Entering from West Willow - Turn left into the car rider driveway.
- Veer right into the turning lane.
- Proceed forward following the flow of traffic into the driveway
- Parents MUST HAVE a car rider tag visible before entering the car rider lane.
- Follow the directions of the duty persons into one of the three lanes.
- Pull up as safe and close as possible to the vehicle in front of you.
- Lane 1 is filled up first, then lane 2 and lane 3. Once dismissal begins, lanes are released in the same order. \If Lane 3 is full, staff will direct cars to Lane 1 and repeat the process.
- The lane you enter is the lane you stay in.
- Follow the directions of the duty persons into one of the three lanes
- The lanes merge into one for student pick up.
- Follow the directions of the duty person for your turn to enter into the pick up area.
- Once you have been guided to the pick up area, pull up to the staff member to receive your student. Please shift your car to (P) park for staff to load your student safely.
- Once your student has been received, proceed to the next gate to depart from the campus.
- Parents wanting to secure your student’s car seat / booster are asked to park in a parking slot not to block the flow of traffic.
- When exiting the driveway follow the directions of the traffic sign or street dividers.
- You must turn right when exiting the driveway.
- If you do not present a car rider tag you MUST go to the front office and present an ID in order to receive a tag. Once you receive a tag, you MUST return to the car rider lane.
- Once the gate is closed at 3:50 p.m., you are to park in a parking slot and wait in your vehicle until the lanes are cleared. You are to then walk to the front office with your tag or ID to receive your child. Please do not block the driveway.
SPED (car rider departure)
- An arrival and departure schedule will be shared by your child’s teacher.
After 4:00pm the student will be brought to the after care program. The One day drop in program comes at a cost of a $10.00 fee. This fee is due when you pick up your child. The child can remain with the group until 5:50pm. This will allow you time to get to your child safely as well as to have the child in a safe area.
Please be patient. Our car rider lane average is 300 plus vehicles. We are working as safely and quickly as possible to get you out. Thank you for your cooperation.
