Student Programs & Enrichment
At Woodvale Elementary, students enjoy a variety of enriching programs that support academic achievement, creativity, physical wellness, and personal growth.

Physical Education
Teachers: Ali Brabner, Melodie Gallet, and Raye-Ann D'Aquin
Our Physical Education program promotes healthy lifestyles while developing students' physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Students build strength, coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance through engaging activities designed for each grade level.
Activities vary by age and may include parachute games, team sports, fitness challenges, and cooperative activities. Throughout the year, students work toward improving their overall fitness while learning the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits.
Science Lab
Teacher: Mr. Rocky Baudoin
The Woodvale Science Lab provides students with weekly hands-on learning experiences that reinforce classroom instruction. Through inquiry-based investigations, students explore concepts in physical science, life science, Earth and space science, energy, and environmental science.
Students participate in engaging activities such as fossil digs, recycling projects, launching rockets, engineering challenges, solar cooking, and designing battery-powered vehicles. Every lesson encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of scientific discovery.
Visual & Hearing Impaired Services
Teacher: Mrs. Allie Cortese
Woodvale proudly serves students who are blind, visually impaired, or hearing impaired from Lafayette Parish and neighboring parishes.
Students receive specialized instruction and accommodations based on their individual needs, including Braille instruction, large-print materials, and assistive technology. Our goal is to ensure every student has equitable access to learning while participating alongside their peers whenever appropriate.
Gifted Education
Woodvale Elementary is proud to be one of the few elementary schools in Lafayette Parish to house a full-time academically gifted program. Students receive rigorous, enriched instruction designed to challenge advanced learners. Gifted students engage in coursework that extends beyond grade-level standards, including instruction one grade level above in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
