The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT), affiliated with the NAF, provides students with education and skills to pursue higher education or careers in the Information Technology (IT) industry. AOIT benefits from NAF's resources, professional development, and national connections. An Advisory Board, including local IT professionals and educational institutions, supports the program, ensuring the curriculum stays relevant to the industry. Students progress through a structured curriculum, starting with one technology course in their freshman year and two each year afterward. Courses cover areas such as computer literacy, networking, web design, app development, and Java, with opportunities for industry certifications

The Informatics Academy will focus on bringing the world of technology to students in a way never seen before now. Students in our Informatics Academy will be introduced to how technology works along with new and innovative programs which will allow students to explore and take-on a number of real-world challenges and opportunities.
Pathway
As a pathway to the Academy of Informational Technology at Carencro High School, we will provide a sound foundation in technology and academics that will afford students the opportunity to excel in high school and prepare them for the work force or pursuit of an advanced degree. Regardless, students will be prepared to compete in a world of global technology.

Academy Affiliation and Vision
The Academy of Information Technology at Carencro High School is an affiliate of NAF (formerly known as National Academy Foundation), through which the AOIT receives curricular, professional development and program support, regional/national connections and the collective experiences of AOIT programs throughout the nation. The AOIT will introduce students to the opportunities in the Information Technology, Computer Science and Media industries and will equip them with the skills they need to seek higher education and/or enter the digital workforce.
Community Connections
The AOIT is guided by an Advisory Board, composed of local IT professionals, an AOIT parent, student and alumnus; and representatives of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, South Louisiana Community College, Academy of Interactive Entertainment, and the Lafayette Parish School System. This and other community partnerships are geared toward providing real-life experiences and keeping the Academy program grounded in the reality of the IT field.
AOIT Curriculum
Students will take one technology class their freshmen year and two technology classes each year thereafter. Technology courses include Computer Literacy I, CompTIA Fundamentals (emphasizing Networking and Computer Maintenance & Support and the opportunity for certifications in Internet Computing Core, CompTIA Fundamentals, and CompTIA A+), Web Design (Fundamentals of HTML, CSS, Javascript), Computer Applications (with the opportunity for Microsoft Office Certifications and workforce development preparation), App Development, and Java.
The AOIT is also developing an Emergent Media track, where students learn the basics of Adobe products like Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects. Students also get to play a part in livestream productions of our sports programs, schoolwide announcements, Students also make dynamic video content and learn social media marketing through real-world broadcasting content.
Additional activities include guest speakers, socials, job readiness skills, and community service. A paid internship in the IT field is required in the summer between the junior and senior year.

Eligibility Requirements
● Complete the application.
● Complete the student essay within the application. Essays written by the parent will be ineligible.
● Attend an AOIT Information Session. This is a mandatory part of the application process.
● Applicants applying to enter into the 10th grade must pass the Readiness Assessment Exam or have an IC3 industry-based certification.
Once students are enrolled in the program, in order to remain eligible for the Academy coursework, students are expected to maintain pass Academy elective course and have a good record of attendance and discipline.
