GRADUATION PATHWAYS

TOPS UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA

The TOPS University Diploma is intended for those students whose goal is to enter a 4-year university following graduation, such as UL Lafayette, LSU Baton Rouge, McNeese State University in Lake Charles, or another 4-year university.  This pathway is academically rigorous and requires students to take 2 years of a foreign language and an Advanced Math course.

Twenty-four credits in the right courses are required for this diploma.

TOPS TECH JUMPSTART CAREER DIPLOMA

The TOPS Tech Jumpstart Career Diploma is well suited for those students who are interested in a career and technical area after high school, such as in business, culinary arts, digital arts, crafts and trades such as automobile service, welding and carpentry, and health areas such as Emergency Medical Responder or Nurse Assistant.  Study in Cosmetology is also available.

The Jumpstart diploma requires only 2 science and 2 social studies courses.  Four English courses are required, but in place of English III and IV, Business English and Technical Writing may be taken instead.  Four math courses are required. Algebra I must be taken, but the other 3 math courses required are less difficult than the other 3 required in the TOPS University diploma path.

In place of Art, 2 years of a foreign language and 3 general electives, the Jumpstart diploma calls for 9 Jumpstart electives, with some of these being in their Jumpstart pathway of interest.  In addition, Jumpstart CREDENTIALS are required for each pathway.

Twenty-three credits in the right courses are required for this diploma.
