Visual Arts

  • Focus: Elements of Art & Principles of Design
  • Skills Learned:
    • Conceptual thinking
    • Problem-solving
    • Constructive criticism
    • Art techniques and mediums
    • Art vocabulary, history and artist
  • Goal: Develop artistic skills over time and expressing creativity through various mediums.
     

Band

  • Focus: Instrumental music (Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion)
  • Instruments Include:
    • Woodwinds: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone
    • Brass: Trumpet, French horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba
    • Percussion: Snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, bells, xylophone, etc.
  • Benefits:
    • Builds auditory, motor, memory, and emotional regulation skills
    • Enhances cognitive and academic performance
       

Choir

  • Focus: Vocal music in a collaborative and joyful environment
  • Skills Learned:
    • Pitch, rhythm, melody, harmony, dynamics
    • Reading music notation
    • Group performance and listening
  • Goal: Build confidence and musicality through singing and vocal play
     

Theatre

  • Focus: Storytelling, character building, performance, and technical theatre
  • Skills Learned:
    • Acting, voice, movement
    • Scriptwriting and improvisation
    • Technical design: sets, lighting, costumes
    • Giving/receiving critique
  • Goal: Encourage creativity, collaboration, and confidence both on stage and off
     

Dance

  • Focus: Dance technique, creativity, and cultural appreciation
  • Styles by Grade:
    • K–2: Creative movement
    • 3–4: Jazz, ballet, cultural dance
    • 5: Jazz, ballet, tap, cultural dance
  • Skills Learned:
    • Dance vocabulary, balance, rhythm, improvisation, teamwork
  • Goal: Build physical coordination and expression through diverse dance forms
     

Strings/Guitar

  • Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Guitar, Ukulele, Electric Bass
  • Skills Learned:
    • Posture, bowing, plucking, strumming
    • Playing in solo and group settings
  • Goal: Develop musicianship, teamwork, patience, and confidence through string instruments
     

Piano

  • Focus: Foundational piano technique and music literacy
  • Skills Learned:
    • Reading music (treble & bass clef)
    • Finger dexterity, posture
    • Playing melodies and chords
    • Music theory and ear training
  • Goal: Inspire joy in music-making while developing performance and technical skills
