LPSS and Acadiana Center for the Arts Featured Nationally for Arts in Education Partnership
The Lafayette Parish School System and the Acadiana Center for the Arts are being recognized on a national stage for their commitment to expanding access to arts education for students.
The partnership between LPSS and AcA was selected to be featured on Empowered with Meg Ryan, a national educational television series that highlights organizations and programs making a meaningful impact in communities across the country.
The documentary-style segment focuses on the AcA/LPSS Arts in Education program and how the collaboration brings high-quality arts learning opportunities directly to students throughout Lafayette Parish schools. Through classroom experiences, performances, artist residencies, and creative programming, the partnership helps students explore creativity, build confidence, and engage in learning in meaningful ways.
The program was chosen as a national model because of its innovative approach to connecting schools and community arts resources to create enriching educational experiences for students.
“Arts education creates opportunities for students to express themselves, think creatively, and connect with learning in new ways,” said LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. “We are proud of the partnership we’ve built with the Acadiana Center for the Arts and honored to see the work happening in our schools recognized nationally.”
Empowered with Meg Ryan highlights stories designed to educate and inspire audiences through real-world examples of successful programs and partnerships. Episodes air on public television stations nationwide and are supported through additional digital and network distribution.
For LPSS and AcA, the feature represents more than recognition. It reflects a shared commitment to creating a vibrant learning culture where students have opportunities to grow academically and creatively.
The Acadiana Center for the Arts has partnered with LPSS for years to provide arts-integrated learning experiences that support student engagement and bring professional artists and creative opportunities into schools across the district.
