Principal Recommendation for position
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2.2 overall GPA
Enrollment in an Alternate Certification Program

And ONE of the following:

Praxis PPST Reading and Writing Scores
Praxis CORE Reading and Writing Scores
ACT score of 22
SAT Combined Verbal/Critical Reading and Math Score of 1030
NTE Communications Skills Score of 645

**A Temporary Authority to Teach requires enrollment in an alternate certificate program and additional college courses to be taken within first year of employment.

Para-Professional (Teacher Assistant) Positions

If you are interested in a position as a para-professional in Lafayette Parish, please see eligibility requirements.

48 college credit hours including 9 English credits and 6 Math credits; OR
Passing score of 450 on the Para-Pro Assessment.

Schedule to take the Para-Pro Assessment

You will need a $55 money order made payable to Lafayette Parish School System or exact cash to take the test. You will also have to provide a valid driver's license or other state ID.
