The Lafayette Parish School System is pleased to announce that Pamela Sorensson has been named a semifinalist for the 2021 Teacher of the Year program by The Louisiana Department of Education. Sorensson is an English teacher at Carencro High School. In addition, she is a Louisiana Teacher Leader, the chair of the English department, the National Honor Society Sponsor and serves on the school leadership team.
“Lafayette has been my home for the last twelve years. I work alongside some of the most hard-working individuals who I admire and respect for their unwavering dedication both at Carencro High School and throughout Lafayette Parish. Representing the school, parish, and most importantly the students that I love is truly one of the most humbling, honorable experiences,” says Sorensson.
The educators being selected are making exceptional gains with students, guiding them to achieve at the highest levels in the state. Their commitment to student success exemplifies Louisiana’s teaching profession.
