The Lafayette Parish School System is pleased to announce the hire of Desireé D. Early as the director of risk management. Most recently, Early served as the director of risk and administration while also serving as the corporate secretary of Petroquest Energy, an oilfield exploration and production company. Having a 17-year distinguished career in the field of administration and risk management, Early also has an extensive background in corporate governance and legal matters such as claims management, lawsuits, accident reporting, and coordination with federal and state regulatory agencies.
As the director of risk management, Early will be part of the district leadership team and will supervise the employees and the operations of the risk management department to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations. She will oversee workers’ compensation management, the district’s health and safety program, in addition to monitoring new and proposed legislation, insuring the district against losses, and responding to public records requests.
Early holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
She has professional accreditations from the Insurance Institute of America as an associate in Risk Management (ARM), certifications from the Louisiana State Paralegal (LCP) and National Paralegal (CP), and is a notary public. She is a member of Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS), Louisiana Notary Association (LNA), Louisiana State Paralegal Association (LSPA), Lafayette Paralegal Association (LPA), National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA), Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance, and the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). In addition, she is actively involved in the community. She served as a volunteer at CASA (Court Appointed Special Assistants), served as an advocate and currently serves as a board member for Hearts of Hope. She also volunteers at d Asbury United Methodist Church.
