Lafayette GEAR UP Improving the Blank Page Poetry Day

October 17: Lafayette GEAR UP’s annual Improving the Blank Page Poetry Day will be held on November 1, 2018 from 9:00 am. -3:00 pm. This event is put on through partnerships between Lafayette GEAR UP, the Acadiana Writing Project, the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. There will be workshops for GEAR UP students from Acadiana High, Carencro High, Lafayette High, and Northside High School. All workshops will be held at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum and the A. Hays Town Building. Students will be working with Louisiana Poet Laureate, Jack Bedell, and internationally acclaimed poet, Cornelius Eady. The event will be an engaging and exciting opportunity for Lafayette’s young writers. Jack Bedell and Cornelius Eady will also be performing and conducting workshops on November 2 and 3 as part of Festival of Words, one of Acadiana Writing Project’s longest standing partnerships.
